POETIC JUSTICE

There was a young man from Peterborough

Who most unfairly got the sack

He took this publishing firm to a tribunal

Who duly awarded him money back

Normally this would have been quite a victory

But this was the arrogant Forward Press

They're not bothered if they don't pay the money

In fact it seems they couldn't care less

This company publishes New Fiction stories

And many varied kinds of verse

The founder of this Peterborough firm is Ian Walton

His indifference to this matter couldn't be worse

Now sadly another court will have to make judgement

And maybe "The long arm of the law"

But "Poetic Justice" is my favoured outcome

And what I'm most praying for

So please beware before you get your fiction and verse published

And what ever else you plan to do

Remember if this firm can't, or wont pay this award at the moment

Why on earth in the future should they pay you

The publishing firm trades under the names

Forward Press Ltd, Young Writers, Poetry Now, Anchor Books, ProPrint, Limited Editions, Need2Know, Triumph House, afterschoolclub.net, New Fiction, Spotlight Poets, Pond View, Writers' Bookshop, bookprintinguk.com

Shame on you Forward Press Ltd

I am disgusted with this Company and I'm appalled at the short comings of Employment Tribunals and the whole system in general.

This young man was unfairly sacked in March of 2007 and he was awarded a sum of money. A good outcome you would think but not so.

Now approx ten months later from the date he was unfairly dismissed he still hasn't received one penny. What makes matters worse at the time of appeal the Employment Tribunal made a mistake in the workings out of the money owed to him.Their calculation was approx £4,000 short of what it should have been. He has battled ever since to get the amount put right and to actually receive his award.

He has gone through all the right procedures but to no avail. I just wonder how many other people are going through the same farce.

I was present at the tribunal hearing and I was appalled to see workings out of the payment done on scraps of paper. When the total was queried at the time the response from the Chairman was to laugh

Now Forward Press will have to be taken to court.

I acknowledge that Ian Walton has his fines to pay see

and his company purchased very expensive equipment last year

but I don't see this has an excuse

Forward Press have been more than happy to bring pressure to bear with the legal system when it's to ther advantage according to the following article

This is a family run firm and each and everyone of the Directors should hang their head in shame - These are some of them at the last count

Ian Walton.

This poem and article has been written to highlight how the unfair dismissal system is failing some people. People who lose their job unfairly are one of the most vulnerable in society and should be helped not continually obstructed.

In my opinion and that of certain other people the British Government should change the law. The system should be restructured and updated so that awards that are unpaid for one reason or another can be enforced by the state. I also think that awards should be worked out and checked by some system other than bits of paper.

This is 2008 I thought we threw the abacus away along time ago.

It doesn't matter how many people have been helped by this system, one failure is one too many.
